You need to generate a Mailchimp API key - sign in to your Mailchimp account in Admin | Account | Extras | API keys - click Create A Key button. Mailchimp will create a unique API key for your account and display it - check the Mailchimp knowledgebase for more detailed instructions
Copy the Mailchimp API key to the clipboard (Ctrl+C).
Go back to Donorfy - in Settings | Configuration find the Mailchimp settings - see below - enter your Mailchimp API key and press Test Settings - once the API key has been checked you will be able to save your changes.
You will now be able to choose which Mailchimp audiences (previously known as lists) you want to link Donorfy to - as shown below - press the + button on the Linked Mailchimp Audiences tab
Note the Mailchimp audience name must not be longer than 50 characters - if the name is longer you will need to rename the audience with a shorter name.
Suppose you had a Mailchimp audience called Main Mailing List that you wanted to link - you would choose that audience - you can then setup the mapping between Donorfy Purposes and Tags and Mailchimp Groups and Purposes
important Mailchimp allows Audience fields to be configured as Required - see Audience / Settings / Audience fields and |MERGE| tags. When syncing to Mailchimp, Donorfy will supply only first and last names in addition to email address, so you should ensure no other fields are marked as Required.
Choose your 'audience' and press Save Changes
Your audience will now be saved to the main Mailchimp listing within Donorfy, as below.
Click on your audience to open it.
Click on the + button to add a new mapping
You can then choose which Donorfy purpose or tag will be mapped to which MailChimp tag or group
Please ensure that you do not use commas, underscores or & within in your tag or group descriptions as this may cause an adverse effect with the syncing process.
